In 2020 I entered a short story contest run by the Romance Writers Australia. The theme was 'Cupcakes' Although that theme seemed to indicate sweetness and light, I chose a different route. My story won the contest that year...and made the judges cry. Initially published in the RWA 2020Short Story Anthology 'Sweet Treats' you can purchase the entire 13 story anthology here, https://www.amazon.com.au/Sweet-Treats-Cupcake-Australia-Anthology-ebook/dp/B08F47N5CW/you or read my single story here.
This tiny romantic tale (1600 words) was originally included in the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers' Centre print publication - Anthologie D'Amore - in 2014. The anthology was created as a teaching tool to help new authors understand the process of being edited and published. Mud Honey Birthday was my contribution. Not only did it represent my first foray into Romantic Comedy, these were the first words I wrote after the bushfire almost wiped out our home, and I had no idea if my writing muse would ever return. Consequently, this fun little romantic story will always hold a special place in my heart. For more information on the KSP Writers' Centre, click on the embedded link.
Love Light - Adults Only
I have plans to write a high heat scifi series about the female leaders of four ruling quadrants. So far I simply haven't had time, but I did manage to write a complete mini prequel of 5000 words... just for fun. One day I'll write them all.
Thank you to Sofija and Georgia from the KSP Writers' Centre for chatting to me about contest judging on the 'Writing From Square One episode 6' podcast
